As the CTO, I led the product development of a novel computer vision safety system utilizing active infrared laser scanning, event-based cameras, and AI object perception. I also enhanced Terranet’s product strategy, introduced a new product line for road safety in the automotive and micro-mobility sectors, managed product engineering, and secured international OEM customers and Tier One automotive suppliers, and handled business development and public relations, including speaking at conferences and events.

Head of Navigation Maps & Lab, Digital Vehicle & Mobility

Leadership for digital maps, navigation, ADAS functions, and real-time traffic devices. Established and managed a Daimler innovation lab for integrating industry and technology trends into the navigation product line. Designed software architecture for a novel navigation system (MoNArch) and real-time map streaming platform (LiveMap). Developed a product strategy for SD and HD map sourcing, processing, and distribution, including integration of innovative navigation features. Managed map data and explored spatial database technologies. Created a multi-stop routing algorithm for electric vehicles and worked on location-aware in-car reminders for the service MercedesMe.

Daimler Mobility Services

Head of Maps, Future Mobility Technologies and Services, car2go, moovel

Led a team that designed and implemented adaptive software components for customized mobility services, including digital maps, geographic search, intermodal routing, and navigation. Enhanced cross-platform and cross-vendor services on mobile devices and web browsers. As the Head of Product, I oversaw the map product vision and roadmap, building and leading a team of 20+ engineers, developers, and designers. I developed and sold the business strategy for the moovel map product portfolio, creating a detailed roadmap and business plan. Led the development of an in-house mapping technology stack, analyzed market competition, explored partnerships, and managed internal marketing and sales efforts.

As the Managing Director I played a key role in selling the intellectual property of my startup, OneStepAhead AG, to CloudMade in December 2010. I led the newly established CM office in Stuttgart from December 2010 to April 2013. My responsibilities included business development, strategic planning, product development, innovation, customer acquisition, project management, marketing, sales, and human resources management. I also served as a member of the CM Executive Team and focused on navigation apps, mobile outdoor apps, indoor navigation, and offline/online maps.

Successfully integrated research outcomes into multiple DaimlerChrysler units through industry, authority, and startup partnerships.
